This extremely detailed oil painting depicts a lush and beautiful rain forest near Hyder, Alaska, far from the mainland of the United States. Moss hangs from the trees and ferns cover the forest floor. The dense forest has a slight opening which reveals a blue-gray mist, lending a mysterious yet calming feeling. Here, everything is at peace and is as it should be. Despite the folly of the world this place is insulated from the madness.
