In this painting we see a green cornfield under a pitch black night sky, the foreground illuminated by an unseen light source. In the darkness it grows unseen, for it is night growth. In tight rows they suck the nutrients from the ground. It must take more from others to flourish for on its own it never could. Humans can’t eat this corn, so is it really food? If it is food, then for whom? Soon the harvest will come.
I am doing my best to interpret the age and society I live in through art. I have included titles and descriptions, but how you interpret what you see may very well be different from mine.
